Image to Prompt: Describe a Picture for AI Generation

Upload an image and get an English prompt you can review and reuse. It works for picture to prompt and photo to prompt. Try 1 description before sign-up; registration adds 1 more. A third-party model processes the image.

Image to prompt

Turn a picture into an English prompt you can edit and reuse.

1 · Source image

Clear images give better prompts. Blurry images can make the model invent details.

Your image is processed by a third-party AI model. Anonymous uploads follow Imgraft’s temporary image retention policy. Privacy policy

Illustrative prompt

A small flower shop front with buckets of mixed bouquets on the pavement, soft daylight, muted warm colors, eye-level photo.

Upload an image on the left to get your own description. The text above is a hand-written example, not a tool output.

02 · HOW IT WORKS

How to turn an image into a prompt

This image to prompt generator turns a picture into new English text, not a new image or the original prompt. Check the description against the source before you reuse it.

  1. Upload a clear JPG, PNG or WebP picture you own or have permission to use.
  2. Generate the English description.
  3. Compare the words with the source; delete guesses, then copy the corrected text.
  4. If you want to generate from it here, choose Use in image to image. The img2img workbench opens with the text, where you supply or choose a source image and confirm permission.
03 · REVIEW

Image to prompt generator: what to check in your prompt

Read each phrase as a claim about the picture. Keep visible details and remove any object, lighting effect or camera claim you cannot check.

Subject

Wrong object or person attributes

Name only the visible subject; remove identity guesses.

Scene

Invented props or background

Delete objects you cannot find in the source.

Composition

Wrong position or viewpoint

Describe where the subject sits in the frame.

Lighting

Assumed time or light source

Describe visible shadows and brightness instead.

Colors and style

Style words that change the mood

Keep only colors and visual treatment you want to reuse.

Illustrative editing example: if a description says “a red mug on a marble table” but the table material is unclear, change it to “a red mug on a light surface.” This is a manual wording example, not a tool output.

04 · REUSE

Keep the look, change the subject

To change the subject while keeping a similar look, edit the generated text yourself. The tool does not extract style as a separate setting, and the next image may differ.

  1. Mark the words about the original subject and objects.
  2. Keep the lighting, colors and composition you want.
  3. Replace the subject words, then check that old subject details did not remain.
  4. Use the revised text in image to image and review the new result.

For a person photo, use only an image you may upload and read the privacy policy first. A written description cannot guarantee the same person or scene.

05 · LIMITS

What an image cannot tell the model

A prompt inferred from pixels cannot reveal the original prompt, camera model, shooting settings, ownership or hidden parts of the scene. Blurry, cropped or dark sources can make the model guess.

  • Remove objects and materials you cannot verify in the original.
  • Replace claims about lens settings or shooting history with visible framing and lighting.
  • Use a clearer original if available, then compare the new text again. A clearer input may help review but does not guarantee accuracy.
06 · ACCESS & PRIVACY

Free use and image privacy

Limited free use is available and is separate from free image edits; each paid credit you buy also includes 1 description.

07 · FAQ

Image to prompt questions

How to turn an image into a prompt with Imgraft

Imgraft analyzes an uploaded image and returns a new English prompt describing visible features. Review and edit the text before reusing it for image generation.

How does picture to prompt work?

Upload an image you have permission to use, generate the English description, and compare each detail with the source. Correct unsupported details before copying it or taking it to the img2img workbench.

Is there a free image to prompt option?

Limited free use is available and is separate from free image edits. Each paid credit you buy also includes 1 description, valid as long as those credits are.

Do I need an account to try it?

No account is needed to start. Free use is limited and does not refresh daily. Free use may be unavailable at busy times.

Can it recover the original prompt?

No. It creates a new description from visible image features, not a record of the original words. A new image generated from this text may differ from the reference.

Can a blurry image produce a prompt?

Yes, but details may be invented. A blurry, cropped or dark image can lead the model to guess. Compare the text with the source, remove details you cannot verify, and use a clearer source if one is available.

Can I use an image prompt in img2img?

Yes, as a starting point. Copy the text or use the img2img handoff, supply a source image there, and review the new result. Subject, composition and small details can differ.

How can I keep the look but change the subject?

Manually separate the subject words from lighting, color and composition words. Replace the subject, retain only the visual directions you want, and check the result; a matching look is not guaranteed.

Does image to prompt identify people?

No. The prompt calls each human subject a person and describes only clothing, pose and expression. It does not name anyone or infer gender, age or race.

What happens to my uploaded image?

Imgraft sends the image to a third-party model for processing. Upload only images you may use, and read the privacy policy for image retention. We do not keep the generated prompt.
