Infringement notices

The copyright owner or an authorized representative may email a notice with the subject “Copyright infringement notice”. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list of works on a single site.
  3. Identification of the allegedly infringing material and enough location information, such as URLs or image/task identifiers, for us to find it.
  4. Your contact details, including address, telephone number and email if available.
  5. Your statement of a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
  6. Your statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the allegedly infringed exclusive right.

We review notices, promptly remove or disable access to material identified in a compliant notice and notify the affected user. We may request missing information. Do not send passwords or payment card details.

Counter-notices

If you believe removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, email a counter-notice with:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The removed material and its location before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number; consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where the service provider may be found; and agreement to accept service of process from the original notifier or their agent.

We forward a compliant counter-notice to the original notifier, including its contact information. We restore access 10–14 business days after receiving it unless the notifier informs us it has filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement or removal circumstances can create liability under section 512(f).

Repeat infringers

We terminate repeat infringers’ accounts in appropriate circumstances and may restrict access while investigating complaints. We consider valid notices, counter-notices and other relevant evidence. Copyright complaints must identify material on our service; we cannot remove copies hosted elsewhere.
